Hello everybody, Thanks for visiting my website. First let me tell you about what happened. On July 12, 2006, just before my 14 month birthday, I was home hanging out and playing with Laura, my babysitter, while Mommy and Daddy were at work. Usually I spend my days with Nana, but she was on a big boat visiting another place. Suddenly I got a little dizzy and fell down, then my tummy got upset. Laura called Mommy at work and she came right home. Mommy took me to see Dr. Clark and she sent me to Valley Hospital in an ambulance. Dr. Mazzola, a special brain doctor, had to fix something in my head so I had an emergency surgery. Daddy calls her his "girlfriend" since she helped me out. I spent ten days in the hospital and all the doctors and nurses were very nice to me and my family. Mommy and Daddy stayed with me the whole time and my family came to visit me everyday. When I got home from the hospital I had to learn how to use my arms and legs again so Mommy and Daddy took me to meet Lisa, a physical therapist. She helps me "work out" sort of like my personal trainer. I like her alot, when I go to visit her she plays with me the whole time. After my surgery, Aunt Amanda moved in with us to help Mommy take care of me. Its nice to have her around to play with me all of the time. At the end of July we went to meet Dr. Thompson and his nurse Ann at Tomorrows Children's Clinic in Hackensack Hospital. They told Mommy and Daddy that I would have to take some special medicines to help get rid of the rest of the "boo-boo" in my head. Mommy and Daddy told me that this would take six months and that some of the medicines might make me tired or make my tummy hurt, but it was all to make my brain better and make the "boo-boo" go away. Before I could have any of the medicines I had to have another surgery. Dr. Friedman put these special "tubies" in me: one for the medicine; one to check my blood; and one to make sure I eat enough. I also need to rely on the kindness of others to donate blood and these tiny fragile things called "platelets" to help me stay healthy. You have to ask Uncle Anthony about that since he is directing people on what to do and where to go. Grandma is helping him with that too. Please understand if I don't visit with you for a while; the doctors have told Mommy and Daddy to make sure I don't get sick. So when all of this is over I will be able to visit all of my family and friends. Thank you for your prayers and all of the help. Love, Elizabeth Anne |
